Who is more at risk of developing a brain aneurysm?
Aside from women and the elderly who have a slightly higher risk of aneurysms, there aren’t any definite demographics that are susceptible to aneurysms says Dr Prem Rangi, a Consultant in Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology at Queen Square. Smoking can also increase occurrence of aneurysms too.

That's a very tricky question. It's very difficult to have a demographic that is more at risk for an aneurysm. We know they increase as one gets older, and they're more common in females. There are also sociological sort of risk factors so that people who smoke are more likely to develop aneurysms. There are a number of inherited conditions that predispose individuals to develop an aneurysm. They're pretty on the rare side, though, so less than five percent of aneurysms that we see are probably inherited.
