What is your experience of sumatriptan and high flow oxygen treatment as treatment for your cluster headaches?

Queen Square patient David Ball describes how Sumatriptan and high flow oxygen treatment have helped make his cluster headache pain more manageable

Sumatriptan is great, it works for me, it's very quick. The problem with cluster headaches is the speed at which they come on. I could be sat here and within five seconds, I could be under the table clutching my head, banging my head on the floor. What Sumatriptan does is just sneaks around the corner, shuts the door on the pain, and stops it getting to that point. You still feel the effects of the... you have... it's like shadow effects. And I guess people say it's similar to epilepsy, in terms of the after effects of the headache. You know that's quite tough, but Sumatriptan doesn't alleviate that, it just stops the pain. The oxygen, again it's the same thing, it's not about getting rid of it, it's just about putting a lid on the pressure cooker almost and keeping the, stopping the pain hitting the maximum point, really.
