Vestibular neuritis, what is it?

Vestibular neuritis is inflammation of the vestibular nerve, which carries balance information between the inner ear and brain, says Professor Adolfo Bronstein

Transcript
Neuritis is an inflammation of any nerve. In our area, the main neuritis we deal with is vestibular neuritis. Vestibular neuritis is inflammation of the vestibular nerve, which is the nerve that carries all the balance information. So, when patients have a vestibular neuritis, they feel very imbalanced. They feel they are spinning around, and as a result of that, they feel sick and they actually often vomit. And it takes quite a few days to recover, and sometimes there are long-term lingering effects.
