Superficial thrombophlebitis is inflammation and a blood clot in the varicose vein.
It's different from the deep vein thrombosis however it is still medical emergency and you need to be checked as soon as possible.
What you need to have is to have a scan to make sure that this blood clot is not extending to the deep system and in some occasion patient will need to follow a specific protocol for blood thinners.
That's an indication that your varicose vein needs treatment however we like to take some time between the acute episode and the treatment time to reduce the risk of complication after the treatment.
