What is Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)?

Andrew Thomson defines Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) as being similar to IVF Select, in which specific genetic diseases are tested for and eliminated.

Transcript
Preimplantation Genetic Testing is similar to the IVF Select procedure where we take all your embryos through to the blastocyst stage or day 5, day 6. We remove a couple of those cells using a laser, which is sent to a genetics testing laboratory. But the difference with this is you're testing for a specific genetic disease. So things where you are at higher risk of suffering from, like cystic fibrosis, they can be tested for so that you're preventing any of your children being born with a specific genetic disease.
