What is PGS (Pre-implantation genetic screening)?

Dr Ippokratis Sarris definesPGC (pre-implantation genetic screening)as a biopsy of an embryo to determine that it has the correct number of chromosomes.

Transcript
Pre-implantation genetic testing, or screening as it's also known, is a technique by which embryos, which are created through IVF, are biopsied by taking a few cells away in order for them to be tested. And what we test for, for the chromosomes, which are the building blocks of life, the idea is to be able to determine which embryos have the correct number of chromosomes before then these are replaced back inside the womb and hopefully achieve a healthy pregnancy.
