What is IVF?
Louise Mitchell defines IVF as In Vitro Fertilisation. It involves stimulating a woman’s ovaries so that she produces more than one egg, and then inseminating them with sperm in the lab.
Transcript
So, IVF stands for in vitro fertilisation, and it's the process of stimulating the ovaries with an injectable medication, and to develop eggs within those ovaries. Then going to theatre for a short procedure called an egg collection, to have those eggs removed, taken into the lab, and for those eggs to be fertilised in the lab with partner or donor sperm.
