Transcript
You might decide to take a consultant-led care package and that will include your midwife appointment and the birth, your first night's stay and a number of associated clinical services around that. For instance, we have a neonatal consultant who will attend for an elective C-section and we will provide certain services on the ward as well and your accommodation. Outside of that, it's itemised and customised depending on you. You might want to stay longer and that's fine, we welcome you to and that will mean that there are elements that are outside of your package. Or you might have blood tests or other examinations or diagnostics during your pregnancy which are outside the package. All of our packages are specifically around the delivery for consultant-led care. If you want to take a more holistic approach and have care predominantly with our midwives, you can take a midwifery-led package. There is a link consultant attached to that which means that there is clinical assistance. There is oversight and governance and there is someone to escalate to in the event that there is any complication or increase in risk factor. But your care then is predominantly through our midwifery team. You will meet them regularly, they will organise scans for you if you wish to have them with us. They will monitor and see you throughout your pregnancy and they will be there through birth. Again, the end result is a delivery package so it will cover all of the care up to and including the birth and your first night's stay. After that, again, it's itemised depending on what you need. And what you want us to do for you. We cannot include absolutely everything on that particular list. But we will always inform you if there is a potential test, diagnostics or treatment that may incur a cost. So you have full knowledge of that. And then we can discuss that with you and keep you up to date on what you want to elect or not elect to take.
