There are different types of eczema. The most common type of eczema is probably atopic eczema, and this is eczema that comes on, often in childhood. It occurs in up to 20% of children to some degree, and it can be mild, or it can be quite severe. Often atopic eczema goes along with asthma and hay fever. The three conditions are linked.
