What is a bicuspid aortic valve and how common is it?

A clear overview of what a bicuspid aortic valve is and how common it is within the population is provided. In this video, Dr Ravi Assomull explains how this congenital condition differs from a normal aortic valve.

Transcript
Whilst most people are born with an aortic valve that has three leaflets, a minority of people, typically 1-2% of the population, are born with a congenitally abnormal valve where instead of three leaflets, there are two leaflets. This is what we call a bicuspid aortic valve.
