This offers practical, patient-friendly guidance for those considering private care.

Transcript
There are a full range of cardiac investigations and procedures that are available privately. These range from more simple tests such as electrocardiograms or ECGs which is just a simple heart tracing, to an echocardiogram which is a jelly scan of the heart to look at the heart function, through to a Holter monitoring which is a small device that you would wear for 24-40 hours that monitors your heart rhythm continuously, through to exercise tests which let us know how your heart functions when you exercise. We then have a various range of imaging tests which go from CT scans to nuclear tests to MRI scans. And finally we have our procedures that we offer which go from electrophysiology procedures, looking at how the heart beats, through to coronary angiograms and intervention where we look at looking at the blood supply to the heart and how we can make that better. There are basic tests such as the ECG and ECHO which most patients will get when they present with cardiac symptoms. The imaging tests or procedures tend to be when people have more specific types of symptoms such as palpitations or dizziness or blackout or chest pains or breathlessness. So of these the ECG, echocardiogram and often Holter monitoring are quite routinely performed for the vast majority of patients. The more specialised tests involving the imaging or procedures often follow on tests based on the results of the earlier tests or your symptoms.
