Dr Yaser Mehrez details some of the things that happen in a pain clinic, including a full physical and psychological assessment of their pain.
Transcript
When a patient come to see us at the pain clinic, we normally assess their whole scope of issues, including the physical aspect and the medical aspect of the chronic pain, as well as the psychological aspect of the chronic pain. We also have a look to the medications which they have been using and what sort of treatments they've tried in the past. We also study carefully the impact of pain on their quality of life, including the what we tend to use as a bio cycle social perspective, which address the biological impact of pain, as well as the psychological and social impact of pain and the quality of life. Share the outcome with the patients, and then plan a very individualised pathway for them to help them managing their pain.
