Transcript
So gastritis can be caused by a variety of things. Those could range from chemical what we call insults or chemical causes such as bile salt. Could be caused by medications such as inflammatory medications or alcohol. Other causes of gastritis could be the lack of blood supply to the stomach, especially in people who are critically ill. And of course there is infection as a cause. Commonly we see a bug called Helicobacter pylori that can cause gastritis, and that falls under the infectious causes. And lastly, there are immune causes for gastritis such as autoimmune gastritis and other conditions related to immune system. So it really varies for each patient.
