What are the success rates for surgical sperm retrieval (SSR)?

The success rates for surgical sperm retrieval (SSR) in obstructive azoospermia is in theory 100% because the sperm is being directly transferred from the source. However in non obstructive azoospermia, you will usually only be able to find sperm in around 50% of patients says Dr Suks Minhas, a Consultant Urologist and Andrologist at London Andrology.

Transcript
Surgical sperm retrieval's success rate's an obstructive and should be 100% because, in theory you are going directly to the engine room to extract the sperm that can't get out. The problem occurs in non-obstructive azoospermia. And in non-obstructive azoospermia, in 50% of the patients you will usually find sperm from the technique of micro-dissection sperm retrieval.
