What are the side effects of high prolactin levels?

Dr Simon Aylwin of London Endocrinology explains that the most common pituitary tumour is one that causes excess prolactin. In women that would cause breast milk production, irregular periods or sometimes affect fertility.

Transcript
The most common pituitary tumour is a tumour that produces excess prolactin. Now, in women, that will cause breast milk production, it will cause irregular or absent periods, and sometimes just compromises fertility. The prolactin is elevated, found in the blood, leading to the diagnosis of a small pituitary tumour, or the pituitary tumour was there and the prolactin was found to be elevated. Either way, that's a condition that needs to be evaluated and it can be effectively treated.
