What are the chances of kidney cancer spreading?

Mr Walter Cazzaniga explains when kidney cancer is more likely to spread, including larger tumours or more aggressive tumour features. He outlines how CT and MRI scans assess spread, and in this video describes when oncological treatments such as immunotherapy may be recommended.

Transcript
Kidney cancer can spread and it's specifically true when the mass is large or if there are specific factors within the mass that increase the aggressiveness of the tumour itself. If the kidney cancer is spread, we do normally diagnose this with CT scan and MRI scan and you will be referred to an oncologist for an opinion. The treatment at that stage will most likely not be surgical but will include immunotherapy or systemic treatment to treat other types of disease, not just the primary tumour.
