If my pacemaker is MRI safe, can I get an MRI at any other clinic?

So although your pacemaker or defibrillator may be MRI safe, there are still certain safety protocols that we need to follow. We need to do some checks before you attend for your scan, and also we need to, on the day of the scan, reprogramme your device to an MRI safe mode and then reprogramme it back to your baseline settings afterwards. In addition, we like to monitor patients more closely during the scan. So it's important really that you come to a unit where they have expertise in scanning patients with devices.
