How long does an MRI take?

MRI scan duration time can range from as little as 10 minutes to an hour and a half, explains Queen Square Senior Neuroradiographer Kirsty Price

Transcript
It can vary, and that depends on what area of the body we're looking at, and what we need to look at on that body area. So some scans may only be 10 to 20 minutes, other scans can take an hour to an hour and a half. That depends on what the doctors want us to look at, and how they want it demonstrated. So MRI scans can vary wildly in the length, but most scans are about half an hour to an hour.
