How long can I stay in hospital after a private birth?

Isabel Woolley, Senior midwife, explains how long you can stay after a private birth in this video, covering typical postnatal stays after vaginal or caesarean birth and how confidence, recovery and feeding influence discharge. This offers practical, patient-friendly guidance for those considering private care.

Transcript
Essentially you can stay for as long as you like. We have clients that stay for a week or so, but with a vaginal birth we would recommend one or two nights and with a caesarean section birth two or three nights. It also depends on how confident you feel with the feeding, whether there's any issues that arise with your baby, but we would advise you at the time whether we thought you were medically fit. But clients obviously can opt to stay another night to utilise our services if they want.
