How does stress cause erectile dysfunction?
Felix Economakis explains that stress contributes to psychological erectile dysfunction by releasing stress hormones and a ‘fight or flight’ response.

Stress can trigger erectile dysfunction many ways. When we release stress hormones, what stress hormones do is they create a catabolic state, that's a breaking down on resources. There's no point planning for the future if you don't think you're gonna be alive. So when the body breaks things down, it's not focusing on procreation and building a nest for the future, it's focusing on releasing energy to run away. We want the opposite, we want an anabolic state where we're building for the future. So the more stress we can get rid of, the calmer people are, the more they're inclined to build for the future and procreate.
