How does DNA fragmentation affect male fertility?

Dr Suks Minhas explains that DNA fragmentation may result in a reduction in fertilisation rates when the sperm meets the egg, and it can also cause miscarriages.

Transcript
DNA fragmentation may result in the reduction of fertilisation when the sperm meets the egg and likewise also ongoing pregnancy rates as well. So patients who have recurrent miscarriages may actually have a raised DNA fragmentation so the importance is trying to measure that and see whether or not that is raised because obviously, it may be a predictor of whether or not you may have successful treatment.
