How can a positive mindset help with chronic pain?

Joanna Rodriguezexplains that a positive mindset can help with chronic pain by having an uplifting effect on the way that they live their lives, and helping them to feel more joy.

Transcript
When people suffer with chronic pain, it typically has an effect on the way that they think about things and the way that they see the world because obviously, if you're in pain every single day, it's going to make you feel down eventually. And it can also make you feel anxious. But what we know about pain is that if we are able to experience more feelings of joy and happiness, our perception of pain goes down. So if we can help somebody to have a more positive mindset, then we can reduce their perception of pain and help them to get more joy from their life.
