Transcript
The treatment of fibroids involves, first, making an accurate diagnosis, and that involves either doing a sonography and/or doing MRI in certain situations. And once we have an accurate diagnosis, we get information about size and location of the fibroid. We take the woman's whole needs in relation to her fertility into account and we offer treatments. The treatment may involve no treatment, like, ignore the fibroid, or if treatment is necessary, then for purposes of fertility, the best treatment is myomectomy, where we physically do take out the fibroid by means of surgery. My expertise with fibroids is doing keyhole cuts to remove fibroids, like, laparoscopy, or removing the fibroids through natural openings, like, the cervix, again, using small instruments. And this helps the woman recover quicker following her operation, so then she can have onward treatments quicker, such as IVF.
