Do I need to have an injection or take a drink for the MRI scan?

An MRI scan injection is usually required to help enhance scan results and improve the diagnostic process, as Queen Square Senior Neuroradiographer Kirsty Price explains

Transcript
For our MRI scans you will not need to drink anything, but quite often with our scans, you do need a small injection. And this is necessary for a lot of our patients. This is used in order to give us really good detail and enhanced details on the scan. And it's generally one very small injection. There are no real known after effects and funny feelings after our injection, but it is quite common to have an injection for this scan. But it aids diagnosis, and it's often very important to have this. Again if you're frightened of that, that's something we can discuss with you, and there's things we can do to help you with that.
