Can you do an MRI scan for all types of pacemakers?

There are a few things to consider when it comes to MRI scans in patients with a pacemaker or cardiac device, as Dr Charlotte Manisty explains

Transcript
We know that some of the older pacemakers are not safe to go within an MRI machine. However, you'll be able to contact your cardiologist who looks after you, or the pacing clinic that follows you up, and they will be able to tell you whether your particular pacemaker or defibrillator is one that would be safe to go within an MRI scanner. When you then come for the appointment, we would check your device further and perform some changes to the programming to enable you to go into the scanner. When you then leave after the scan, we put the settings back to where you were before, and this is a very safe way to scan patients who have pacemakers or defibrillators.
