Can Parkinson’s Disease be caused by environmental or lifestyle factors?

Dr Tabish Saifee, a Consultant Neurologist Queen Square, says although environmental lifestyle factors do not cause Parkinson’s disease, they can modulate the chances of developing the disorder.

Transcript
So I don't think lifestyle factors cause Parkinson's disease, but I do think that there are a number of environmental factors that seems to influence the onset of the disease. We've seen these over time, for example smoking, or coffee consumption, or exposure to things like pesticides. None of those are causative factors, but they slightly modulate one's chances of developing Parkinson's disease.
