Can fibroids cause weight gain?

Mr Tariq Miskry advises that contrary to myth, fibroids do not cause weight gain, and most patients do not lose weight automatically when they have them removed.

Transcript
That's a bit of a myth, but we have a group of disappointed patients who, after having removed their fibroids, complain that they are exactly the same weight as they were before. Of course, that's not always completely true because in large fibroids we might remove anything up to a kilo or a kilo-half of fibroids themselves, but otherwise it doesn't make any difference.
