Are headaches during menstruation normal?

Dr Manjit Matharu, a Consultant Neurologist at Queen Square, says the hormonal changes that occur just before, during and after menstruation will incur more headaches and migraine attacks. Women with more hormonal changes will get more headache episodes.

Transcript
It's very common for women to have headaches during menstruation. The usual scenario is a few days before menstruation women will get headaches and they can then have headaches anywhere from a few days before, during, or immediately after menstruation. Again, these headaches are brought on by hormonal changes. The migraine brain, as I said, doesn't like change, and if there are changes, such as hormones changing within the brain, those changes can induce migraine attacks. And that's the reason that women with hormonal changes will get more headaches.
